Typical error messages

Filesystem initialization failed

Symptom:

After upgrading the firmware or exchanging the SD card, the instrument appears in the Discovery Screen but when attempting a connection the following error message is shown:

Solution:

This error can appear when the firmware upgrade has been interrupted, preventing the necessary formatting of the recorder and rebooting of the instrument. To carry these steps out manually, connect to the instrument using its web interface (see Connection problems).

Once you have accessed the instruments's web page, you can reformat the SD card and reboot the instrument using the buttons circles in the screenshot below. Make sure that you both Reformat and Reboot. After completing the formatting and reboot, close the browser. You should now be able to connect to the instrument in Signature Deployment as usual.

After completing these processes, it should be possible to connect to the instrument as expected.

The following error, message appears when opening a .deploy file in the deployment wizard.

Solution:

This error message typically occurs if the limits file within Signature Deployment is missing or out of date, which can occur if the computer running the software has never been connected to the specific instrument type. Should you be connected to an instrument there might be a problem with the limits file itself. It can be found under: C:\ProgramData\Nortek\Deployment\Settings. To resolve this error:

  • Check if the limits.txt is ‘read only’. If so take this attribute away.
  • Delete the limits file, restart Signature Deployment and reconnect the instrument. A new limits file will be generated by the software and should be updated with the connected instrument's limits.
