General documentation
The theoretical principles and operational guidelines are common across multiple Nortek instrument types and are therefore covered in shared documentation. The following sections link to where you can find information on the underlying theory, instrument operation, maintenance, and recommended practices.
Operational Guidelines
An extensive overview of pre- and post-deployment guidelines as well as instrument handling tips and tricks can be found here: Operational Guidelines
These guidelines describe the considerations to make before deployment, focusing on practical aspects of planning, preparation, deployment, and instrument handling.
Principles of Operation
The Signature is capable of measuring both current profiles and the full wave spectrum. In addition, it offers advanced features such as ice measurements, High Resolution (HR) mode, and echosounder.
To understand how the instrument derives its measurements, refer to the following sections, which describe the underlying theory and physical principles:
- Principles of Operation - Currents
- Principles of Operation - Waves
- Principles of Operation - High Resolution
- Principles of Operation - Ice
- Principles of Operation - Echosounder
Maintenance
An overview of the most important maintenance procedures can be found here: Operational Guidelines - Maintenance
This section outlines the essential maintenance tasks needed to keep Nortek instruments operating reliably, including cleaning, sealing, cable handling, and preventing bio-fouling. It also covers routine procedures such as performing post-deployment checks, replacing desiccant bags, securing screws, and caring for connectors.
Data processing
If you are preparing to process your data or want guidance on recommended quality-control procedures, see:
PDF manuals
For offline access, PDF versions of the content available in the sections mentioned above can be found at the bottom of this article. Note that while the articles in the sections are continuously updated and expanded, the PDFs are updated less frequently and are primarily intended for situations where offline access is required. The articles linked above should be considered the primary source of information.
Software
For information on how to use the Signature Deployment software, including descriptions of the available options and parameters, refer to the Help tab within the software.
Technical drawings
Detailed instrument general arrangement (GA) drawings are available on the product page. The drawings can be found under Technical documentation.
If you require CAD files, please contact your local sales representative or send a request to support@nortekgroup.com
Instrument-specific information
The Signature page contains articles covering features and procedures specific to the Signature instrument family. These include product-specific configuration, hardware, firmware, software, troubleshooting, and other operational procedures. Browse the Signature documentation sections to find information relevant to your instrument and application.
The following sections are worth highlighting:
Announcements
The Announcements section lists important updates related to the Signature instrument. It is updated whenever new firmware, software, or other important information is released, making it easy to stay informed about updates to your instrument.
Troubleshooting
The Troubleshooting section provides guidance for diagnosing and resolving common issues with your Signature. It includes, for example, a step-by-step procedure for troubleshooting connection problems.
