Firmware is the internal software that controls the instrument’s functions and communication with external devices. It is different from the instrument software installed on your computer.
Nortek periodically releases new firmware versions containing improvements, new functionality, and fixes. We recommend keeping the instrument firmware up to date to ensure reliable operation and compatibility with the latest instrument software.
New instruments are delivered with a compatible firmware version, so an update is normally not required before first use. However, we recommend checking for available updates when you connect the instrument.
Before updating
DOWNLOAD ALL RECORDED DATA BEFORE UPDATING THE FIRMWARE
Updating the firmware formats the recorder and erases all data stored on the instrument. Transfer any data you want to retain to your computer before starting the update.
Updating the firmware does not affect licenses installed on the instrument.
Make sure that the instrument has a stable power supply and remains connected to the computer throughout the update. Interrupting the power or communication before the update is complete may leave the instrument in an unusable state.
Check for available firmware
When your computer is connected to the internet, the instrument software may notify you if new firmware is available. You can also check manually using the Check for updates option in the software.
Firmware files can be downloaded free of charge from the Nortek software and firmware download page. Registration is required to access the downloads. Make sure that you select the firmware intended for your instrument model.
Update the firmware
To update the firmware:
- Connect the instrument to your computer and open the appropriate instrument software.
- Check for available updates or select the appropriate firmware file downloaded from the Nortek website.
- Start the firmware update.
- Keep the instrument powered and connected while the firmware is transferred and installed.
- Wait until the software confirms that the firmware update was completed successfully before disconnecting the instrument.
