Why can't I connect to my Signature/DVL after a FW upgrade?

A simple solution you can test
If you are experiencing issues connecting to your Signature via Signature Deployment or MIDAS after unsuccessfully trying to install a new FW or similar unexpected events/changes, chances are that the SD card needs to be reformatted.
Unfortunately this can be difficult if there is no apparent connection to the instrument..
A simple solution to this might be to use the instrument’s IP address to connect directly through the web browser and update the FW from there.
It will also ask you to reformat the SD card which also should be done when experiencing ethernet issues.
NOTE, your data will be deleted when doing this.
We often see this as a solution to a variety of apparently different connectivity issues via ethernet.
This is assuming the cable and physical connections are working properly.
It is always a good idea to go through the physical connections between the instrument and computer. More often than we like to admit there is a simple overlooked issue causing hours of headscratching, like not connecting power.
How to connect through your web browser:
- Find the IP address of your instrument.
This can very likely still be found via the software, even though you cannot connect to the instrument.
- Connect via your browser.
Either connect directly via your browser, by typing the IP address in your browser address bar.
Or by right clicking the instrument in the discovery and choosing «open in web browser»,
this option however may not work if there is a connectivity issue,
whereas typing the address should always work unless there are other underlying issues. - Update the FW and reformat the SD card when asked.
