Nortek instruments have been used actively for over a decade now and have proven to withstand the test of time.

As a result it is common practice for many companies to use old deployment files.

However, even though some of the well proven instrument hardware hasen't changed much, there have been multiple changes to software, firmware and computers since the first AWAC's and Aquadopps were released.

This can in some cases lead to compatibility issues that can be difficult to troubleshoot.

These issues usually occur when trying to upload an old .dep file and can look like connection issues between the instrument and computer.
Deployment files from different frequency instruments are also not compatible

The file might have been created by a co-worker on an old software version or it might have downloaded from an older instrument. 

If the instrument works fine using a deployment created directly in the current SW being used, but issues arise when using an old .dep file; you should
recreate the old deployment settings and save it as a new file to be used in the future.
