How is current and wave direction defined?
FollowOne important difference between current and wave measurements is that currents are given in the direction the currents are flowing towards, while wave directions are always reported as the direction the waves come from.
In ENU coordinates, this means that wave direction 0 degrees indicates that waves are coming from the North, while current direction 0 degrees indicates currents flowing towards the North. For more information about the different coordinate systems, see the FAQ: "What are the different coordinate systems and how are they defined?", but note that processed wave data can only be given in ENU coordinates.
