For how long can batteries be stored before use?
FollowBatteries naturally discharge over time, and prolonged storage should be avoided to maintain optimal performance. For guidance on battery storage, please refer to the following FAQ: How to store batteries?
If batteries have been stored for an extended period, it's recommended to conduct a battery load test to verify their initial state. Ensure that the appropriate load is as per the instrument's specifications.
Storage Guidelines for Lithium-ion (rechargeable) Batteries:
- Store in a dry location at temperatures preferably not exceeding 30°C.
- For long-term storage, maintain the battery within a state of charge between 15% and 45% to optimize lifespan.
- Perform periodic checks to prevent complete discharge, which can negatively impact battery health.
Shelf Life:
- Alkaline and Lithium-ion batteries have a shelf life of 4 years from the production date.
- Lithium batteries can be stored for up to 7 years from the production date.
By following these guidelines, you can help preserve battery life and ensure optimal performance when needed.
