    Hi Rachel,

Thanks for posting on our forum. The variable names crated when you convert the raw .ad2cp files to matlab files have been slightly changed, Data.Burst_Physical beam is named Burst_Data.Physicalbeam. You can open up the data file in Matlab and easaly see all variable names here.

We have an updated routine on  "signatureAD2CP_beam2xyz_enu.m" which we will send you.

Let us know if we could help you with anything else.

    Oddrun,

Thank you so much for the help.  The new version of the code is great to have.  As I'm looking through the mat file, I'm realizing why I couldn't figure out what Data.Burst_Physicalbeam was named: my mat file doesn't seem to have it.  Is there some documentation that talks about what the expected matlab fields are?  I imagine they change with the instrument settings.  I just wasn't able to find a description of all of them.  The internal documentation (through Data, Config, Descriptions, and Units) is great, but doesn't talk about what fields aren't there...

I was using the instrument in beam coordinates, perhaps that is why I don't have this field?

    Thank you!

    Hi Rachel,

glad we could help! In the matlab file that is created when you convert .ad2cp you'll get a Burst_Data_xxxx (or Avg_Data) file and Config file. You'll find the variable Physicalbeam under the Burst_Data folder. This variable should be included when using beam coordinates as well, see example below. What software do you use to convert your dataset?

Description of all variables can be found in the Signature Integrators guide https://support.nortekgroup.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029513952-Integrators-Guide-Signature if something is missing here, please let us know.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Oddrun,

Thanks so much for the help.  I had to get the Nortek Signature software reinstalled on my computer, and that delayed me for much longer than I would have liked...  I finally got a chance to re-install it, however, and re-process the data I collected this summer.  This is what I have:

I don't know why I get the Data field, without Burst_Data or Avg_Data.  Is it an older instrument configuration?  What does this mean for how I go about processing?  And the field Burst_PhysicalBeam in particular?

    Thank you!

    Hi Rachel,

the data you have displayed is only for the altimeter, the 5th beam. Do you have  other data files from this deployment?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Oddrun,

Thanks for the help.  This is the same file, I've simply scrolled further down in the list of fields.  The 4 beams are listed here.  Is this what you're looking for?

    Hi Rachel,

thanks for the update. Our output structures are not the same for all applications, my output is from Ocean Contour. Could you try this software and see if you get the phycial_beam string when exporting from here?
