Ocean Contour will display whatever times are in the data file, i.e. the time that was set on the instrument. If the instrument was set to sync to the PC that it was deployed with, then the timestamp will be reliant on whichever timezone that PC was in. If the time was set manually, then the times in Ocean Contour will reflect that.

    Thanks Ellie,

So I have received a data file from those performing the field work.  I am unsure if the time was set to the PC's local time or if the time was set to UTC.  Does the Signature ADCP indicate if the time has been set to UTC?  By this I mean is there some kind of flag indicating this action?

The Signatures cannot be set to a specific time zone, only to the local PC time or a manual time, so they don't have a flag that would indicate being set to UTC. The best way to record the timezone is in the comments section of the deployment file, or if you are doing online measurements you can use time protocols NTP or PTP for more accurate timings.
