Plan your first measurement campaign

After having connected to the instrument for the first time and familiarizing yourself with its functionality, you will need to plan the first deployment of the ADCP. For this purpose, we have accumulated a range of comprehensive guides describing both measurement theory as well as best practices and deployment tips. We strongly advise to study this material in detail, to ensure that you will be able to collect the highest quality data possible.

Guides and manuals

To help you understand how the instrument derives its measurements, the following articles outline the theoretical foundations and physical principles involved:

A extensive overview of pre-and post-deployment guidelines as well as instrument handling tips and tricks can be found here:

Detailed instrument general arrangement (GA) drawings for the first-generation instruments are available in the product archive. Locate your instrument by scrolling down the page or by filtering by instrument type at the top.

If you require CAD files, please contact your local sales representative or send a request to support@nortekgroup

Creating a configuration

A configuration can be created by using the corresponding feature of the software. Follow the the individual steps and consider each parameter thoroughly. The summary tab on the right hand side can be a useful tool to view the effect of the currently selected deployment choices on the potential precision and distribution of data. Try to alter various parameters and study its effect to gain a better understanding of possible choices and their consequences for your data.

After you are satisfied with your configuration you can either save it to a file, save it to the instrument or directly start the deployment.

💡 NOTE: While working in the software, we recommend to study the Help section. There, you can find descriptions for each section and parameter selectable as well as useful tips and tricks.
